Library Thursday 7-14-11

I actually went to the library this week. Sadly it wasn't the Berlin Library that I had pictures of last week, but you know - a library is a library!

I went crazy again this week - I always go in thinking "I'm getting just ONE book" but that never happens.
Here's what I couldn't leave on the shelves this week:

Strawberry Shortcake Murder by Joanne Fluke
A Witch in Time by Madelyn Alt
Q is for Quarry by Sue Grafton

and two audiobooks

Blasphemy by Douglas Preston
Tool & Die by Sarah Graves

Don't forget to visit the awesome Lazy Girl Reads, see what other people borrowed from the library, and wish her a belated happy birthday (her birthday was yesterday)!

Library Thursday 7-7-11

Yes it's Thursday! Time to visit with Lazy Girl Reads and friends to find out what everyone got from the library this week!

I didn't go to the library this week. I'll wait while you get over the shock.

I know "Why Kris, why didn't you go to the library?" Well my friends, because it was closed until Tuesday and then I was studying for a test.

But - I'm not going to leave you empty handed. I found these pictures of the most AH MAZE ING library and I'm sharing them!

It's the library in Berlin Germany

I would enjoy nothing more than to wander around this library for about three days!

Library Thursday 6-30-11

Holy Cow! It's the last day of June? Where has this year gone? Oh my....

Thursday means Library Thursday with Lazy Girl Reads!

Before I start with what I checked out this week I'd like to say I cleared my over-crowded library slate. Yes, I returned every book, read or unread, with the exception of one - and started fresh. I was starting to feel overwhelmed with the amount of books I had checked out!

The one book I kept was Un Lun Dun by China Mieville

The other books I checked out were -

Squirrel Meets Chipmunk by David Sederis (Audio Book)
Holes by Louis Sachar
Naughty Neighbor by Janet Evanovich
To Cut a Long Story Short by Jeffrey Archer

Sorry I'm being lame and didn't do pictures today! Don't forget to link up and see what everyone else got from the library this week!

Library Thursday 6-23-11

Oh my goodness - I tried so hard to avoid the library this week. But then I forgot - I had three inter library loans out there, and they came in. And of course I just wasn't going to come out with three measly books!

Don't forget to link up with Lazy Girl Reads and see what other people couldn't walk out of the library without!

Thanks not only to the Sumter Library - but also the Darlington, Chester, and Marion County Libraries for supporting my habit this week!

And now for my continuing list of shame - Clockwork Angel, Don't Hex with Texas, The Homeplace, Real Murders, Rusty Nail, and Shoes to Die For (I also have Antiques Flee Market, but that's read and ready to return)

More shame - currently I have 13 books checked out....

Library Thursday

Time to link up with Lazy Girl Reads and see what we all got from the library this week. I more than made up for my one lone book last week! This week I picked up:

I've been in a ghosty mood lately plus I really love paranormal stuff. What can I say? I figured it was time to check out something other than a cozy!

Believe me, I'm not crazy about no carbs. At all. But when your doctor "highly recommends" something because if you don't do anything you're in danger of keeling over - well I guess I have to follow that advice.

I've been reading a lot of reviews lately about Steampunk and it seems like it might be an interesting genre. I saw this book on more than one list about the subject, so I thought it might be a good one to test out the waters on.

And now for my list of shame: the books I've had checked out for weeks and haven't finished reading yet:
Antiques Flee Market, Hex Hall, Don't Hex with Texas, The Homeplace, Killer Blonde, Real Murders, Rusty Nail, and Shoes to Die For

Yeah, I'm thinking I really need to stay out of the library for a while!

Library Thursday

Time to link up with Lazy Girl Reads to see what everyone got from the library this week!

This week I only checked out 1 book. Yes one. Because I'm embarrassed to admit how many I have hanging around from previous library trips. And how many of those have zero renewals left and I haven't even cracked them open. *sigh*

So, this week I got

And I should get some kind of award for actually returning more books than I checked out! Maybe I should keep track - you know - like 4/1 (four returned, one checked out). Maybe I wouldn't feel so bad about hoarding all the books then.

Did you visit the library this week? Do you have pictures of a cool library? Link up and share!

Library Thursday

Crazy me - couldn't resist the library again! I've taken to putting the books on my challenge page so when I have to return them unread, I know which ones to check out again!

What did I pick up this week?

Rusty Nail by J.A. Konrath (audiobook)
Don't Hex with Texas by Shanna Swendson
The Homeplace by Janet Daily
Shoes to Die For by Laura Levine
Real Murders by Charlaine Harris
Killer Blonde by Laura Levine

These added to my stack of already have checked outs makes 15 books! I started a summer class on Monday and now for the next 8 weeks I don't know how much time I'll have to do fun reading. So, I must really stop myself from browsing when I return books for the next little while!

What did you check out from the library this week? Link up with Lazy Girl Reads and find out what other people couldn't resist!

Library Thursday

Time for Library Thursday with Lazy Girl Reads.

A fun little hop where you share the library books you've checked out during the past week or share pictures of a library if you didn't actually check anything out.

There's no doubt I love my library. I'm there two or three times a week. There has to be a 12 step program for people addicted to checking out library books. "Hi I'm Kris and I'm a book a holic". "Hi Kris"

Anyway, I tried to control myself this week and failed. Here's what I ended up checking out:

I really liked the cover on this
the name intrigued me too
plus I had watched a whole weekend
of Harry Potter, so I figured a book
about witches would be cool

Because I have to have at
least one Laura Levine checked
out at all times. Just in case I have
something else I hate!

A mystery with a ghost yeah, well, I
couldn't exactly pass that one up
now could I?

Includes recipes and
coffee making tips
AND
it's a cozy - really -
did you think I could resist?

Library Thursday

Time for Library Hop Thursday with Lazy Girl Reads

I visited two libraries this week. The Sumter Main and the Westmark Branch. What did I pick up?

Another Hannah Swensen Mystery

I've never read a Carolyn Hart
But.. it's a cozy and I
needed a 'Y' book

Because I love these cats on the cover.
Really - that's it
and the books aren't too bad either!

I have this one and
his new one and I'll
have read everything Steve Berry
has written!

What did you check out from your library this week?

Library Thursday

Lazy Girl reads host this fun hop on Thursdays. It's easy - just say what you checked out from the library. Didn't go to the library this week? Share a picture of a library. Easy going folks!

Obviously I can't follow my rule about using the drop box to return books. But in my defense I couldn't drop the audiobook in the drop box - so I had to go it - and check out books!

I did control myself though - I only walked out with two!

I was in the mood for some Hannah!

I picked up another audiobook
this one is short though!

Library Thursday Blog Hop

Time for Library Thursday. Hook up with Lazy Girl Reads and visit some other blogs.

This week I went to the "big library". Which just means the main county library! It does have a lot more selection than my normal branch - but I like the people at my branch better!

The reality is I need to stay out of the library. Really. I went to "just return" some things and ended up with:

Audio Version

Um, I needed a 'Z' Title

Because I love Laura Levine

The first in Charlaine Harris' Lily Bard Series

Because I haven't read anything 'Vampireish' in forever

Another one that the online book club is reading in May

And those are just the ones I checked out and have to return! I also hit the sale shelves in the back one day while I was killing time, and walked away with:

So, I've decided - I'm just using the drop box to return books from now on!
There's no stinkin' way  I can come close reading all these!

Library Thursday Blog Hop

This wonderful hop is hosted by Lazy Girl Reads. Seriously, more people need to get on board with this one - are there only three people in the blog world who actually go to the library? Oh, that would be so sad. And I know that's not the case! O.K. so off the soap box - I did go to my library this week - and checked out more books to add to the growing pile of "running out of renewals"! You all know what those are - I know I'm not the only serial renewer!

So, what did I get?

Xone of Contention by Peirs Anthony
Yes, it's a Science Fiction book - and I don't think I've ever read one of those. Ever. But I checked this out for one reason only - I needed an 'X' book for my A to Z challenge. I know, it's silly to check out a book for a letter of the alphabet. I had to do it anyway. Who knows, maybe I'll discover I love science fiction...

The Kingdom Keepers by Ridley Pearson
Sorry for the crappy picture. The cover was all hologramy and shiny. I actually picked this one up for the boy - but when he saw it was "really huge" (it's really not though) I figured I could read it. It takes place at Disney so I'm in - I love Disney!

Break In by Dick Francis
One of the groups I belong to on Goodreads is reading this book for May. I've never read a book with a group before (by choice - I mean yes, in High School when we had to read Great Expectations but that doesn't count!) so I thought I would try. Sad thing is, I probably won't get to it in May - I have a stack of other books I still need to read.

Oh button - I almost forgot the button! Link up library going people!

Why is blogger making it impossible for me to space stuff right today? Urg! Sorry for the weirdness folks!

Library Thursday Blog Hop

Lazy Girl Reads hosts this hop on Thursdays. It's very cool because sometimes people post pictures of their local library and we all know, the library rocks. If you check out this link right here, all the rules are posted.

This week I didn't make it to the public library. Boo! I did make it to the library at the University though, because I'm writing a paper and they had some books I needed for resource material. Not a very exciting reason to head to my favorite place *sigh*. The library at the University looks cool, but I couldn't find a picture of it.

I did check out a couple books though. Don't judge me - remember - I'm writing a paper!

Oh yeah, don't judge the pictures - I snapped them quick with photo booth!

 Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany
by Earle Rice Jr
Backwards - the way it should be

The Mind of Adolf Hitler
by Walter C. Langer
also backwards, natch

Check out the other blogs and by all means visit your library dangit!

Library Thursday Blog Hop

This is a little hop I found while meandering around the blogosphere. Since we all know how much I love my library and that I go there at least once a week (whether I need to or not) I thought I'd join in.

It's hosted by Lazy Girl Reads - and you should check it out!

Not including the gigantor stack I checked out previous to yesterday
(after all, those weren't checked out this week!)
I only walked away with two books
(and one was for the boy
I'm desperately trying to find something that will make him fall in love with books!)
So, for him I picked up The Spiderwick Chronicles Book 1
I've heard it's turned several non readers into readers
I'm willing to give it a shot!

For me I checked out Deaths Excellent Vacation
I'm looking forward to reading this
even if it was just a random shelf find!
those are the best anyway

As usual, I have checked my books out from the Westmark Branch of the Sumter County Library. I love those girls over there - they are the best ever!
